These Connector Terms govern automated access to Form5500Lookup: the remote Model Context Protocol (“MCP”) connector used by AI assistants such as Claude, and ChatGPT, including its list-matching tool; the machine-readable versions of our pages; the request endpoint we publish for scripts; the credits that pay for the records you take; the Data Feed files and the download links we issue for them; any other credential or interface we provide for automated access; and any data obtained through any of them (together, “Machine Access”). Setup instructions, the list of available tools, and the current limits are published on the connector setup page.
The Connector Terms supplement our Terms of Service, which continue to apply in full. Where the Connector Terms address a subject more specifically, they control with respect to Machine Access. By using the connector or any other form of Machine Access, you accept both.
Not a consumer report (FCRA)
Form5500Lookup is not a consumer reporting agency and the data is not a “consumer report” under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). You may not use Form5500Lookup, or any data obtained from it, in whole or in part as a factor in establishing a person’s eligibility for credit, employment, insurance, housing, or any other purpose regulated by the FCRA. Form5500Lookup is a sales-prospecting and research tool. It is not a screening service.
Permitted use of the data
You may use records obtained through Machine Access in the ordinary course of your own business, including in your customer relationship management system, your sales pipeline, your notes, and your conversations with clients, and you may rely on the answers an AI assistant gives you on the basis of those records.
Restrictions
- Do not extract our pages in bulk, copy them automatically, or resell what you take. The connector and the Data Feed are how you take data at volume.
- You may not resell, license, or redistribute the data as a standalone dataset, and you may not use Machine Access to assemble one. This includes reproducing a substantial part of our database or building a competing Form 5500 database, whether directly, through a model you train, or through a product you offer to others.
- You may not circumvent metering. Do not distribute requests across proxies, IP address ranges, or additional accounts in order to defeat a rate limit or credit balance, and do not share, resell, or embed your connection or any credential we issue so that others may call the service on your behalf. One account per licensee: an account is for the person or organisation that opened it, and download links we issue — for a CSV export or a Data Feed file — are for that licensee alone and must not be forwarded or shared.
- You may not use Machine Access for any purpose prohibited by the Terms of Service, including harassment, fraud, or the unlawful targeting of any person or business.
Attribution
If a figure obtained through Machine Access is displayed publicly, cite it as: Source: U.S. DOL EFAST2 Form 5500 via Form5500Lookup — https://www.form5500lookup.com. The underlying filings are public records and works of the United States Government (17 U.S.C. §105). The record as we compile and publish it is our own work, and it is not in the public domain.
Connections and account responsibility
Connector authorizations are issued to a single account, and you are responsible for all activity conducted through them. You may disconnect an AI assistant from your account at any time on your Connected Apps page, and you should do so promptly if you believe an assistant or a device you used has been compromised. If we issue you any other credential for automated access, the same responsibilities apply, and you must store it as you would any other secret.
Entitlements
Paid tools and data fields are governed by the entitlement on your account at the time of each request. A Single State subscription is limited to the state selected on the account. If your subscription lapses, Machine Access returns the free view of the data. The paid view comes back when you reinstate the subscription.
Credits. Taking an employer plan record away — downloading it as a CSV row, or matching a list of companies or EINs from your account, from an AI assistant, or from a script — is paid for in credits. One credit is spent for each plan record you take, the first time you take it in a billing month. Taking the same record again in that month is free. An employer that files three plans returns three records and costs three credits. A company we cannot match costs nothing, and a name that could be more than one employer is offered to you as a choice and is charged only for the record you pick.
- Credits included with a paid subscription invoice are spent first and expire at the end of the period that granted them. They are granted only on an invoice that actually collected money.
- Credits you purchase in a pack never expire.
- Credits have no cash value, are not transferable or redeemable for money, cannot be moved between accounts, and end when the account is closed.
- When your balance reaches zero, matching still works: it returns the same free record anyone can see on the website, along with a note that your credits are used up. A download still returns a file, holding the first few rows and the same note. An empty balance never affects your subscription, the website, or any free tool.
Rate limits and what your plan includes
Rate limits keep the service available for everyone. Machine Access is limited per minute: today, 30 requests a minute without an account and 120 a minute when signed in. When a script matches a list, it can send up to 100 companies in one call and up to 2,000 companies a minute per credential. A request over a limit may be refused until the limit resets. Two kinds of access also have a daily allowance: without an account, 10 searches a day, after which you are asked to sign in; with a free account, 50 employer records a day, after which the rest wait for tomorrow or a subscription. The same daily allowances apply to reading pages on the website. A subscription has no daily allowance. We may add limits where needed to protect the service.
Separately from rate limits, some things come in set amounts. These are published, so you always know where you stand:
- Records a month: a new Standard subscription includes 25,000 employer plan records each billing month, and a new Single State subscription includes 5,000 records a month in the state it covers. One credit buys one record the first time you take it in a month, whether you download it or match it from a list of your own, and taking the same record again in that month is free. Every file holds up to 5,000 rows on every plan. Your billing page shows what applies to your subscription and how many credits are left.
- When your credits run out: matching returns the records your balance covered and tells you. A download returns the first few rows, a note saying the records your plan includes are used up and when they reset, and, through the connector, the same download link and sample.
- The Data Feed: one set of files per licensee per week, delivered on the short-lived links described below.
The current figures are published on the connector setup page and may change from time to time; a change applies to subscriptions started after it.
Data Feed licence
The Data Feed is the whole national record set, delivered to a licensee as a file each week together with a file of what changed. It is sold monthly or annually and is subject to this licence in addition to everything above.
- Internal use only. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use each delivered file inside your own business — your systems, your analysis, your work for your own clients — for as long as your licence is active.
- No redistribution, no derivative dataset. You may not resell, sublicense, publish, or otherwise distribute the file or any substantial part of it, and you may not use it to assemble, train, or offer a competing dataset or Form 5500 database, whether directly, through a model, or through a product you offer to others. Insights and figures you publish in the ordinary course of your business, attributed as set out above, are fine; the dataset itself does not leave your business.
- One account per licensee. The licence is issued to one account. The download links we issue are short-lived, are personal to that licensee, and must not be forwarded, shared, or embedded anywhere others can fetch them.
- Delivery. Files are built weekly. Each week’s files stay available from your account for eight weeks. Each download link you request works for about a minute, which is enough to start your download; a forwarded link will not work, and you can request a new link any time your licence is active. We do not commit to a delivery time. A week’s file is built as soon as the underlying source is healthy, so if the source is late, the file arrives later.
- Corrections. If a record is corrected, the correction applies to the live record and to the next weekly file. We do not reissue a file that has already been delivered.
- Not a consumer report. You may not use Form5500Lookup, or any data obtained from it, in whole or in part as a factor in establishing a person’s eligibility for credit, employment, insurance, housing, or any other purpose regulated by the FCRA.
- Term and termination. The licence runs for the period you paid for and renews with it until cancelled. It ends when the licence lapses, when the subscription is cancelled at the end of its term, or on suspension under these terms. When it ends you stop receiving new files. Files already delivered stay yours to use inside your business under the same rules — internal use, no redistribution, no derivative dataset — and anything you had already published stays published. There is no refund once a snapshot has been delivered — see the Refund Policy.
Suspension
We may suspend or revoke a connector authorization, any other credential we have issued, or Machine Access generally, with notice where practicable and immediately where necessary, if Machine Access is used in breach of the Connector Terms or the Terms of Service, if it threatens the availability or integrity of the service, or if we are required to do so by law. Suspension of Machine Access does not by itself cancel your subscription or your access to the website. If we suspend a paying subscriber’s Machine Access in error, contact us and we will restore it.
Availability and accuracy
The connector and our machine-readable endpoints are provided “as is” and “as available,” on the same terms, disclaimers, and limitation of liability as the rest of the service, as set out in the Terms of Service. We do not commit to an uptime level, a response time, or a stable tool schema, and we may add, change, or withdraw a tool at any time. Responses carry the same figures, the same plan year and filing date, and the same limitations as the corresponding pages on the website, including the filing lag and the small-plan exemption described in the Data & Sourcing Disclaimer. Verify any figure against the U.S. DOL EFAST2 Form 5500 before you act on it.
Corrections
If you believe a record returned through Machine Access is inaccurate, you may request a correction through the same process that applies to the website. We never charge a fee to remove, correct, or modify a listing.
Governing law and changes
The Connector Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We may update them from time to time; the effective date above identifies the current version, and continued Machine Access after a change constitutes acceptance. Questions may be sent to [email protected].
